Notes
Making buttons was really satisfying.
Took a bit of time to decide on best braid to make to attach buttons together. Trials included:
- Quilted braid from Kemp, p. 66 in 4 colours of coton perle no. 5 + black DMC Cebelia no. 10. Too solid, and rather difficult to get tension right.
- Reversing spiral braid from Deighan, p. 12-17 in 4 colours of coton perle no. 5. Reversing the spiral takes a bit of concentration, but the braid looks really good. Slightly stretchy, but I don't think that will be a problem.
- In the end using simple braid on disk with 4 colours.
Finished all parts reasonably quickly, but it took a while to work out the best way to suspend the buttons on the braid. In the end used white sewing cotton through the top of each button as less obvious than using the thicker thread that I'd used for each button.
