Voelker Edging 2

Started: 12th May 2014
Finished: 25th August 2014

Pattern

Voelker, U. The Grammar of Point Ground, exercise 2.

Materials

Egyptian coton 120/2, white

Gimp: Anchor Coton a broder 16, white (shade 1)

Notes

Pattern copied at 90%.

Pattern gives alternative to honeycomb - see section 8.4 from page 121. Supposed to be 8.4c - Parise stitch.

Footside = method 6.5 on p.92.

Sample length of 3.5 repeats. Enjoyed Paris ground, and like the result. Not so keen on the half-stitch in the motif - very difficult to get even. I like the way the gimps are used double for the footside and between the two grounds. The gimp I used was a bit too thick. Try using multiple lace threads in future as Voelker suggests.

Freya B. (7 years old) did some of the Paris ground when she was here, and picked up the movements very quickly.
