Materials
King Cole Merino Blend DK
5mm hook
Notes
Using thinner wool and a smaller hook than recommended so needed to add 3 extra sets of increases (6 extra rows). Added some rows at the end as Daniel likes to be able to turn a brim up.
I was going to make it completely in black but Daniel wanted a bit more colour. The stitch pattern makes the stripes look really good and he really likes the swirl effect too.
A really good pattern. Once I worked out that I needed to increase until the crown was 7 inches it was really easy to make the hat the right size. Lovely squashy result - and just in time for the weather to turn cold.
I think Daniel has worn this virtually every day since I gave it to him.
Later: unfortunately the hat got lost at Easter 2014 - so I made another identical hat...
