Notes
For Helen.
February 2016 - finally gave to Helen when visiting them in Bath. Caused greate hilarity! A bit big for their pot, but Helen reckons she'll buy a bigger one now! Gary tried it as a hat - with his ears sticking out of the holes!
Pattern notes
(UK stitch names)
Start with 45 dc cast on in orange. (co multiples of 3)
Turn; Ch 3, *htr in next st, ch1, miss next st, htr in next st*. Repeat from * to * across.
Turn; ch 3, miss 1 st, htr in next htr, *htr in next htr, ch 1, miss next space, htr in next htr*, repeat from * to * across.
repeat for 16 rows of htr mesh.
Produce 2 of these, and then join across the top with the shaping, so that final rows are continuous - see below.
Shaping?
ch 2, don't turn, htr in 1st htr of other half. *ch1, htr2tog* - repeat around. Slst to ch2.
Next row: ch 3, *htr in next htr2tog, ch1*, repeat, then slst to ch3.
Pineapple "scallops"
With yellow, work rows of scallops in same direction on each row. Start with lowest row and work so that right side of scallops faces upwards.
Attach yellow, ch1.
*In next chain sp - 4dtr, 2ch, 4dtr; In next sp - 1 dc.*
Repeat between * across, then fasten off and reattach yarn for row above.
Offset scallops, so start next row with
4ch, 3dtr into 1st sp, 1dc in next sp, then carry on in established pattern.
Once shaped section is reached continue with scallops, but each one is *3tr, 2ch, 3tr*
Leaves
4mm hook.
For each leaf:
ch. x loosely for the length of the leaf. Remember x! e.g. 30
* slst in back of 2nd ch from hook,
dc in next st
htr in next st
linked tr in next st
linked dtr in rest of chains*
don't fasten off
Ch. x and repeat from * to *.
Hold both halves with wrong side together and dc up edge. (slst in top few sts to keep point), then back down other side.
Repeat for further leaves. I managed 8 leaves of varying sizes from one ball of wool.
Stuffed bottom of each leaf then sewed on. Kept leaves linked and sewed in a spiral. Needed a few extra sts to keep them upright (like pineapple leaves!).
